Full-Service Packing in Chicago, IL

Our packing crew shows up the afternoon before you load, stocked with our own cartons, paper and tape, and works the house one room at a time so move morning is nothing but carrying.

Archer's Moving Services crew loading boxes into the moving truck in Chicago

Run by the owner, not a front desk

Dial the office and it’s Danny picking up, or a mover who actually rides the trucks — never a scripted call center. Point out the turning greystone stairs, the alley-only load, or the block where nothing parks legally, and the whole day is mapped before your date lands.

Priced on paper before we lift a box

We walk the place room by room to build your number, and the wardrobe cartons, moving pads, dollies and shrink-wrap are already inside it — so nothing gets tacked on once the crew is standing at the curb.

Full pack or just the fragile stuff

Hand us the whole kitchen for dish barrels, let wardrobe cartons carry your closet off the rod on their hangers, or point out the mirrors, flat-screens and glass tabletops we crate to fit for the ride across town.

The same faces from door to door

Whoever measures your home at the estimate is the crew chief driving the truck and doing the final empty-house walk with you — a Pilsen two-flat, an Oak Park bungalow or a Streeterville tower on the freight elevator, your things never change hands.

Packing is usually the part that swallows a moving day, so we send a separate crew the day before to get it done. They bring the boxes, paper and tape, go through the place one room at a time, and mark every carton with the room it’s headed to — so unpacking on the far end follows a map instead of a guessing game.

What a full-home pack looks like

  • Dishes, glassware and pantry goods packed into sectioned dish barrels
  • Hanging clothes moved straight into wardrobe cartons, still on their hangers
  • Mirrors, framed art and flat-screens crated to size with heavy padding for the elevator and stairs
  • Each box labeled by room and contents so the unpack goes quickly

Only want the breakables handled? We’ll box the kitchen and the fragile pieces and leave the rest to you. Whatever our crew boxes is covered under your move’s released-value protection, and full-value coverage can be added on. In a Streeterville high-rise or a Lakeview walk-up, that extra crating is what gets glass and art through the tight turns intact.

Part of Every Move

Each item here is baked into how our crews work a job — not one of them shows up as a surprise line at the bottom of your bill.

  • Packers arrive the day before load-out and work one room at a time, never boxing in a hurry
  • We supply every material — cartons, newsprint, tape, bubble wrap and dish barrels — so you buy nothing
  • Dishes, glasses and pantry items set into cell-divided barrels that keep them from knocking together
  • Hanging clothes transferred straight into wardrobe cartons, off one rod and onto the next
  • Custom-built crates with heavy padding for mirrors, framed pieces and flat-screens riding freight elevators and stairs
  • Each box marked with its room and what's inside so the unpack goes room by room
  • A breakables-only package if you'd sooner pack the everyday things yourself

Questions We Hear a Lot

When does the packing crew come — the same day or before?
The afternoon or evening before your load. That way move morning opens with everything boxed and tagged, and the loading crew gets straight to carrying — which matters when you've only got a booked freight-elevator window to work in.
I'm on the 30th floor downtown — how do you keep packed boxes safe on the freight elevator?
Fragile cartons and crated art are stacked and padded so they ride flat and don't shift, and we move them in elevator loads timed to your reserved window. Nothing gets balanced on a dolly through a crowded lobby.
Will you pack around a winter move so nothing gets wet?
Yes. Boxes stay sealed and go straight from the door onto the truck under cover, and we bag anything that can't take moisture, so slush and salt off the sidewalk never reach what's inside.
Can you crate a marble tabletop, a big mirror or artwork for the stairs?
We do it often. Awkward, heavy and fragile pieces — stone tops, big mirrors, framed art — are crated to size and cushioned, and Deon's crew takes the heavy carries down the three-flat stairs on load day.
If a box the crew packed gets damaged, is it covered?
Anything we box carries the same no-cost released-value protection as the rest of your move, and for the pricier, breakable pieces you can layer on full-value coverage.
From the first carton loaded to the last one carried in, one Chicago crew owns your whole move

How Your Move Day Unfolds

  1. 1

A written estimate the same day

On our end: Tell us how many rooms, whether it’s a walk-up or a ground-floor carry-out, and the parking on your block — and a figure in writing is usually in your inbox before we close up for the night.

Where you help: Have your two dates ready, the day you’re out and the day you’re in, along with any building or garage-door codes; that’s what tightens a ballpark into a firm price.

  2. 2

    Date booked, access cleared

On our end: Ahead of the day we lock in the moving permit for curb space, reserve the freight-elevator window, and square the certificate of insurance with your management office or condo board, so the truck lands at your door and nobody hauls a dresser half a block.

Where you help: Let us know the earliest you can hand back the old keys and the earliest you can get into the new place, and flag whichever of those two days barely bends.

  3. 3

    Blanket, shrink-wrap, tag, carry

On our end: Every dresser and couch goes under moving blankets and a skin of stretch film, and the hardware off each bed frame or table gets zipped into a marked bag we tape right to the piece it came from.

Where you help: Label your own cartons with the room they belong in at the new place, and keep passports, keys and anything small and valuable in your own car, not on our truck.

  4. 4

    Haul, unload, set it right

On our end: The same hands that filled the truck empty it at the far end — each piece put exactly where you want it, bed frames bolted back together, and every scrap of used wrap and tape carried out with us.

Where you help: Walk the empty rooms with the crew chief before the truck pulls away, while a quick touch-up is still just a quick touch-up.

What should you set aside for a Chicago move?

Give us the size of the place, the date you’ve got in mind, and roughly what’s coming along, and we email back a written estimate that same day. Nothing due up front and no deposit — only a figure you can plan the whole move around.

  • Fully licensed and insured — we hold Illinois Commerce Commission authority on in-state jobs and pick up federal US DOT and MC authority the instant the truck leaves Illinois
  • Whatever number you sign off on is the number the crew is held to — it comes from an actual room-by-room count, never a guess made from the curb
  • Every mover shows up in our uniform, draws a W-2 check from us, and drives a truck the company owns
